Reon's life narrative is genuinely remarkable, and cycling has played a pivotal role in this extraordinary journey. Starting his cycling journey relatively late, at the age of 26, he kicked off in the C grade, enduring the rigors of demanding races. Through unwavering commitment and dedication, he steadily ascended through the ranks, collecting numerous Canterbury road race titles and Championships and actively participating in the local club racing circuit then moving onto elite racing. His journey led him to compete in prestigious events like the Tour of Southland and the NZ Cycle Classic, where he's achieved a notable presence, boasting eight appearances in the Tour of Southland with some podium finishes. He gained the reputation as a trusted and reliable team leader and was always putting his teams aspirations before his - whether this be up the road in breakaways, rolling on the front or just general playing the game of chess of teams racing.

He also has five NZ Cycle Classics under his belt.

A huge honour for Reon was being selected for the New Zealand national team and riding for his team leaders, Patrick Bevin and Michael Torckler. A huge accomplishment and respect to Reon’s power on the bike considering his age. He has also won multiple stages of Tour of Timaru, Tour de Lakes, Tour of Canterbury, 3 x winner 200km Grape ride, and second place x 2, plus 3 x winner of around Brunner enduro (280km) and the list goes on.

Reon's genuine passion lies in being a valuable team player, selflessly supporting and assisting his teammates in reaching their peak performance. It's in this role that he truly comes to life, serving as the ultimate source of motivation and enthusiasm. His unparalleled knowledge of the intricacies of bike racing makes him the person you'd want alongside you when you're just 3kms away from the finish line, igniting the self-belief you need to succeed.

In his capacity as a youth worker and reintegration specialist, Reon works with young individuals who have faced challenging backgrounds and adverse circumstances. He leverages the transformative power of sports to bring about positive change in their lives. Remarkably, Reon has guided more than 100 young men and women to conquer challenges like the Coast to Coast, Motatapu, Christchurch marathon, and Le Race, demonstrating his commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those he works with.

In the latter years, Reon moved to endurance racing (200km+) due to ongoing health concerns that Reon had trained and raced around since he started cycling.

He is a fine believer in lifestyle balance, having being in full-time employment since the age of 26. He understands what it takes to train, race, recover around life commitments.
